“Out of the night that covers me black as the pit from pole to pole. I thank whatever Gods may be for my unconquerable soul.”
That is the start of my very favorite poem ever.
It is by William Ernest Henley. It has gotten me through some of my hardest times ever. The name of the poem is Invictus.
Invictus is Latin for unconquerable. This poem first came into my life when I was in the 10th grade. I was upset because we had to memorize and break down the poem for homework. I instead wanted to go out with my friends. Little did I know that my homework that night would mold and change my life forever.
That was the greatest gift my teacher ever could have given me.
