Effort
by Serena Peace

Effort. I love this word. All my work in life almost seems to be summed up in one word– effort. Yeah, most of my life I’ve earned ribbons, certificates, and experience all because I gave a new experience a try and put a little effort on it. There are some experiences I win when I just try and others with a little more effort.

I realize everything I do and want to accomplish require effort on some level. Now, I am learning and practicing Bodhisattva which is listening with some compassion. And mindfulness. Which is connecting your mind with your body. Both practices help me enormously with my temper, impatience, and mood throughout the day. I just read a book called Anger by Thich Nhat Hanh and put it into practice. Now I feel so much better. I just tried it out and it worked. Now everyday I put a little more effort into it and it usually works out.

I need all the support I can get and I need to stay proactive in any new experiences and opportunities here to keep my sanity and survive depression. Well, I try a little everyday, and with a little more effort each time I’m sure I will be okay and succeed any new classes or work I begin.
