Hope
by Al

I HOPE OTHERS FEEL AS STRONGLY AS I DO IN FAITH. MY OCCASION FOR HOPE IS MY LOVE FOR JESUS AND OTHER BELIEVERS.

I PRAY BLESSINGS UPON THE WORLD EVERY BEAUTIFUL DAY.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST EVERLASTING LIFE.

I fashion a look I wear on my face some would call the RBF. When some would perceive as intimidating. The way I wear this look, however, I choose to believe, as well as perceive, as an internal safety when being spiritually or racially profiled. Something I learned as a young child when being bullied and something I inherited from my ancestors for protection. I now see and choose as mine to own, an ancient tradition passed to me in the present day to adapt and evolve to my faith and belief. My mask that I do not have to fashion it is mine to claim as my facial expression. My language now is my body’s. My armor of God, blessed both traditionally and culturally, past, present, and future. My will is his, his will is his.
